What We Do

At MyFlareUp, our goal is to improve the quality of life for people living with autoimmune conditions. We exist not only for people with autoimmunity, but also their carers, and any compassionate clinicians and professionals who walk beside them.

We support our members with compassion, connection, and up-to-date general medical knowledge (staying clear of medical advice), as well as practical tools to encourage better disease management. We place equal importance on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing in managing your health. We promote better self-care practices to empower our members with support for when a flare strikes.
We understand the isolation, stress and uncertainty that each flare-up can bring and our aim is to reduce isolation by encouraging connections within our community with regular online support sessions, newsletters and in-person meetups. Listening to our community has prompted research initiatives and new tools being created for our members, with the aim of improving the way people with autoimmune conditions look after themselves. Increased support tools and connection will help our community feel more in control, and we believe we all need support not only during flare-ups, but through every part of the journey.
We have a presence in government for advocacy initiatives and we welcome partnerships with organisations who share our goals.

You're the expert in your own experience, and we're here to learn from you, and support you on your journey.

The gap between brief medical appointments and daily life is real. A few short consultations each year is not enough when you’re living with pain, fatigue or the weight of a chronic condition.

Our aim is to close the gap by offering resources and connections that make the everyday more manageable. From mental health and movement, to diet and community, small changes can make a big difference.

Assist Carers and Families

Assist Carers and Families

Caring for someone living with an autoimmune condition can be both rewarding and challenging. Connecting with others who are also supporting a loved one can bring fresh perspectives and help you feel more supported and less alone on the journey.
Life with autoimmunity often means paying close attention to lifestyle pillars. This can be about prioritising rest and good sleep instead of late nights out, navigating the unpredictability of flares, or sometimes even having to cancel or change plans at the last minute. It’s not about lack of commitment, but rather managing health in the moment. By sharing our experiences and learning from each other, carers and families can build patience, resilience, and a good understanding of the resources available to them.

Flare-Ups and Other Conditions

Flare-Ups and Other Conditions

Flare-ups and chronic inflammation doesn’t just affect the moment, but can connect to other health conditions too. It is something that isn’t talked about enough, yet comes up frequently in our Dragon Talks support sessions. One of the key topics we share is the importance of remission – a time when there are no signs or symptoms of chronic inflammation. Why does this matter? Because even low-grade, uncontrolled inflammation can increase the risk of co-morbidities and, over time, organ damage. Our goal is to support you in reaching and maintaining remission—so you can protect your long-term health, stay well, and truly get your life back.

Emotional Wellbeing

Emotional Wellbeing

The body-mind connection is a powerful one and living with autoimmunity means managing more than just your physical symptoms. Your mind and body are deeply interconnected and taking care of managing stress can have a big impact on how you feel, and how susceptible your body may be to having a flare-up.

Improve Pain Management

Improve Pain Management

How to get your healthcare provider to truly understand how pain impacts your life? After listening, we discovered many in our community struggled with fully conveying the impact of pain on their lives. It inspired our recent research and led us to create a pain communication tool. By listening to your experiences, we shaped this resource to help bridge the gap between what you feel, and what your provider hears.

Reduce Isolation
